More and more NFT projects in Malaysia are appearing and it is always nice to support our local NFT projects. With the attention the metaverse is getting now, there will be great upcoming NFT projects and collaborations we can anticipate.
With that in mind, let’s dive into the 5 great Malaysian NFT projects garnering attention from Malaysian NFT lovers and international.
Apes R Us
The artist for this NFT project is a local graffiti artist called Katun. Apes R Us is a fairly new NFT project that has been garnering attention. Launched in 2022, this NFT project features 8,444 NFTs that are inspired by pop culture characters. Katun achieved success when he sold 2 of his NFT art for 127.6 ETH which equivalents to RM1.6 million in only 24 hours. Furthermore, the project collaborated with top artists such as Dua Lipa and Post Malone.
Global Citizen Club (GCC)
Golden Citizen Club features minimalist artwork that is generated differently from one another. Like other NFTs, the differences that each artwork has are their expressions, headwear, clothes, background, and so on. Even so, some Citizens have different classes. The GCC features Citizens in a luxury lifestyle club and their collection reached up to 8,888 NFTs. Also, being a GCC holder means that you get tier-based membership perks in their club: there is a redeemable token called $GCCMILE that be used to get NFT collections, real-life utilities, and many more member-only bonuses.
Founded by Nicole Yap, 8SIAN is one of the earliest NFT projects. The NFTs feature 8,888 women of different Asian cultures that are digitally drawn by an artist called MrHike. The project is to represent Asian women of different cultures and display the different traits that represent their culture, background, tradition, and race. Focusing on building a close community among their NFT holders, 8SIAN is focusing on building a foundation museum in the metaverse where visitors have to use VR technology.
The Tiger Archives
To commemorate the Year of the Tiger, Pestle & Mortar Clothing collaborated with Tiger Beer to launch this project. The NFT collection has 6,888 pieces of artwork and each of them is hand-drawn. The artworks draw inspiration from Tiger’s beer bottles throughout the years and serve as lucky charms to their holders. Like other NFTs, each NFT are generated uniquely with 86 traits, and some of them are rarer than others. Also, being a holder means you get perks to various things like exclusive merchandise, free airdrops, and parties that would be hosted in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Metaverse.
This NFT project goes by a concept: balance. Intrigue yet? Guava Girls is founded by two Malaysian mothers (Artist: Arty Guava). They got inspiration from the struggles of mothers who have many responsibilities whilst balancing their motherhood. While some projects have a “play to earn” concept, this NFT project adopted a “care to earn” community for its members to practice self-care.
